Goal Type:

Half Marathon Finish

Running Accomplishments:

Have trained for 6 months without hurting myself badly enough to miss more than a couple of  sesssion.    PR!

Short-Term Running Goals:

2009:

  •  5K under 20:00
  • 10K under 43:00
  • HM under 1:45

2010:

  •  Complete a marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to learn how to take care of my body well enough that I never have to stop running again.   Everything else is gravy.   Although I wouldn't mind getting fast enough to win the geezer class at some small races.

Personal:

50 years old.  I ran high school XC very enthusiastically  in the mid-70's. Health and chronic injury problems led to my giving it up shortly thereafter.  Picking up again after a 30-year layoff.

Easy hill run at Discovery Park in the sun.   Not bad for a winter's afternoon.

More snow,  more treadmill.   Slight head cold or something -- tired.   Was hoping for a longer tempo run with multiple paces,  but when my lungs started to burn I decided to err on the side of caution.  Last Friday's tempo run was considerable faster, albeit on the track.

Snow last night,  so no grassy hill sprints today.  Treadmill instead.  35:30 for 4 miles (varied speed once per minute).

Burke Gilman out and back from SPU.    8:30 pace,   145 bpm (78%).  1:50.

Longest run yet,  pretty straightforward.  Form held up until the last couple of miles.
